It’s Opening
Night, the Red Carpet is rolled out and they are starting to arrive; celebrities
dressed in the most dazzling attires for a night of glam and talent. They stop
for a moment to strike a pause for the cameras, then step inside Palais des Congres for the
opening ceremony.
We are caught up in the buzz of the arrivals, the
smiles on the Red Carpet, and intrigued when the ceremony ends and lights shut down for the start of the movie that the audience will get to discover en
avant-premiere. So much talent gathered at once in one place, we are in awe of
the magic that this Festival manages to create year after year. But before we
hope to our local movie theater, to watch these masterpieces, we’ll give
ourselves a moment to look at the dresses, the dresses, the dresses…

Multi-talented artist and UN Refugees goodwill
ambassador Kat Graham stole the show in a bold cosmic black satin duchesse
blazer dress with hand embroidered gold constellation, paired with a silk
mousseline skirt from Tony Ward SS23 Couture collection, ‘Stardust Voyage’. For
the premiere of the movie ‘Monster’, Zhang Yuqi appeared ethereal on the
Montee des Marches in a 3D silk thread embroidered architectural white dress
with a mousseline skirt from the SS23 Couture collection. The gorgeous Alessia
Merzlova opened up the festivities at the premiere of movie ‘Jeanne du Barry’
in an edgy glam’ metallic silver dress with embroidered gleams and daring
cut-out transparencies.

On a more romantic spin, the lovely Gabrielle Caunesil took us for a
twirl of good old romance in a coral pink tulle ball gown embellished with
sparkling silvery geometric embroideries, with a sensual décolleté and a lavish
jupon skirt, a look created exclusively by Tony Ward for the Festival de
Cannes. It was all sparkles and pleats for Beauty Queen Iris Mittenaere
who illuminated the Red Carpet in a wondrous lilac silk tulle ball gown with
delicate glints of beaded embroideries, at the premiere of ‘Indiana Jones and
the dial of destiny.’

The beauty is not over quite yet, and we will be on the
lookout the next few days to spot more of our favourite fashion looks on the
Cannes Croisette.
