Embracing May with Craft, Couture, & Red Carpets

      2025-05-01

It’s the first Monday of May. Always. And in the presence of Dame Anna Wintour.

In a room filled with the world’s most influential artists and fashion icons, the 2025 Met Gala once again set the tone for the season. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” paid homage to the rich tradition of Black dandyism, celebrating the artistry of tailoring as a form of cultural expression and identity – The fast pace world we live in may drive us to go beyond that - It is a night to pay tribute to the timeless language of craftsmanship, and in many ways, echoing what we do every day at the Tony Ward Ateliers.

    • The theme is familiar to our DNA; Our Couture collections have long revolved around the idea of reawakening. Not just in aesthetics, but in emotion, in memory, and in form. At the heart of every Tony Ward Couture gown lies a story told through technique—where centuries-old embroidery meets daring cuts, and where hand-stitched details bring movement to life. Our Spring Summer 2025 Couture Collection, “Twilight Reverie,” is crafted on sculptural corsets with translucent layers, upcycled lace reimagined into flowing silhouettes, and refined tulle adorned with delicate illusions. Each dress is a nod to the past, yet again a bold step into the future.

That same conversation extends into our Bridal Spring 2025 collection -yes, it is a Bridal collection but Tony has always had a red-carpet moment while designing a dress- Romance is expressed not just through silhouettes, but through intention. Crafted in our Ateliers by the magical hands of our artisans, these gowns celebrate femininity, structure, and softness all at once: whether it’s through cascading silk petals, intricate guipure lace, or removable overskirts that give two stories to tell in one day. We can see that floating on the Met.

    • And while Couture is where our heartbeat lies, our Ready-to-Wear pieces continue to push the conversation forward. With bold tailoring, transparent layering, and detailed surface work, the Fall Winter 2025/26 collection plays with contrasts, while refining the everyday with a couture touch.

The Met Gala may have signaled the start of fashion’s spring blooms, but May holds more in store. Cannes is just around the corner, a major red carpet we know well, where Tony Ward creations have moved gracefully through spotlights, camera flashes, and on the montée des marches.

And this year, as always, we’re ready.

Because for us, fashion is never about a single night. It’s about stories through fabrics and form. About preserving the craft.

So, as the curtain closes on the Met and opens on a new season, we’re reminded of what drives us: creating pieces that aren’t just worn.

      May, let’s do this!
