The forever fabulous American ‘actress turned director’ Eva Longoria made a remarkable appearance on the French riviera’s red carpet before she hits the montée des marches on Saturday the 18th of May 2024.
She turned heads in a custom-made Tony Ward Couture dress, as she arrived at the premier of ‘Emilia Perez’ film for the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival.
What the audience saw and the photographers snapped was a light blue gown with multiple daring cut outs and outlines of shimmers on a gorgeous woman… But it’s much more than that. We are about to reveal heartwarming secrets from the behind the scenes.
FROM BEIRUT’S ATELIERS… TO CANNES’ RED CARPET
That dress was sketched by Tony himself, meeting Eva’s style, the stylist’s vision, but most of all blended with the designer’s signature and DNA to make it happen.
From sketch, straight to the magical hands of the Tony Ward’s Ateliers that do wonder in one of the busiest season of the year… the dress came to life. It took three full days with a dedicated team-work working around the clock, two or more sleepless nights and endless hours of handmade work and innovative craftsmanship.
It is an exclusive piece made from a special blue hue of a silk crepe marrocain fabric, with an invisible tulle from the inner part to hold the base all together. It is all in the hard challenging work of the shimmery silver embroideries’ savoire-fair; The threads of crystal beads and Swarovski stones took time to be crafted on the delicate fabric then folded with a particular technique on standing wires around the asymmetrical neckline for the theatrical appeal. It’s a three-dimensional artwork, interrupted by a movement of dancing charlestones, falling graciously from the waist and accentuating the daring slit opening.
The dress is now ready to take off from the heart of Beirut’s Ateliers to Cannes’ prestigious festival, just few hours before the tailor’s scheduled flight…. Let’s do this!
HERE COMES THE FITTING: A MOLDED SCULPTURE
The fitting was made on Eva as soon as the team and the tailor landed in Cannes, which was few days before her red carpet appearance in the dress. It went as smooth as it could be, and the dress molded her silhouette perfectly well; all she wanted was to accentuate the embroideries and add few stones for more sparkles. This, along with small tweaks, made a difference on the red carpet.
BEYOND THE RED CARPET: EVA’S THOUGHT ON HER TONY WARD’S DRESS
It’s the premier screening time, the Photographers gathered, the videographers sneaked, press are here… Eva looked stunning by all means. Her pictures went viral on many platforms even before sharing them, media outlets stating that ‘her look topped them all’
But what goes behind this beautiful picture is a heart-warming statement that she said to our tailor during the fitting: ‘I am so happy with the dress, you can easily wear it from the inside out. That’s how much it’s neat and clean! Even the lining is remarkable!’
