OUR GRAMMYS ROUND UP: A Journey through Couture and Celebrities in Tony Ward Gowns
Couture fashionEven before they hit the runway, few Couture looks were shared exclusively to key stylists, some customized sketches here and there, many dresses pulled from all four corner of the world to be sent to LA for fittings, challenges with the logistic departments, researching the red carpet trends, archived pieces being digged out, many back & forth, late night calls with our PR representative… and yet we are never sure who will be dressed in which Tony Ward gowns, until the very last minute before the celebrity hits the red carpet.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards is coming up this coming Sunday the 4th of February in Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles; it’s one of the most awaited award event for us and for the world.While we wait for this red carpet to roll, Tony always look back at the celebrities gracing the previous Grammys. It’s always a special moment for him.
Over 10+ years ago, none other than Pink hit the 2010 red carpet in a Couture Fall Winter 2008/09 mermaid gown. Degraded in silver hues with intricate sequins waves, she looked radiant by all means! She was the talk of the town in that look.
That same year, Ashanti’s daring Couture dress, was a hit for the press.She showed up in a Tony Ward Couture dress from the Fall Winter 2009/2010. When we say daring, it’s because the red carpet trend back then was more into the big ball gowns; she opted for a not-so-simple sleek one, partially-sheered with a dropped waist bust fully embroidered in gold handmade stones.But it wasn’t Ashanti’s only appearance in Tony Ward for the Grammys, in 2013 she went for a black tulle Couture dress with different cut-outs, and a statement slit marketing her red carpet walk. This Couture Spring Summer 2013 dress was fully embellished with three-dimensional multi-colored flowers.
Kelly Osbourne’s unexpected look for the 2012 Grammys, was from the Ready-to-Wear Spring Summer 2011 collection, it’s an asymmetrical fully sequined dress tied with a subtle bow flattering her waist.The dress looked perfect on her with her punky purple hair. She was all over the news as no one expected this look on her.
Fast forward to these couple of years as the list could go on and on, dressing a diversity of Women has always been part of our DNA.
Muni Long showed up in Couture Spring Summer 2022 and Fall Winter 2022/23, in two different style of gowns.From the jersey sleek one in a statement dark orange color, to a flowy powder-pink long gown with bold ruffles.
Last year, Tessa Brooks was glowing in a striking orange fitted Couture dress with a flattering bodice, and a high statement slit; this piece was from the Cannes 2022 Capsule collection. That’s how the pieces tour the awards!
From Paris Haute Couture Week… to the awards in Los Angeles, then an event in Dubai, a Ready-to-Wear market week, trunk shows here and there… before another red carpet once again; it’s a game of global fashion influence and the goal to reach as much international recognition as possible.The cycle doesn’t stop, the challenges rise with each season, the hands and hearts of the Ateliers are poured with fire into the craftsmanship to meet the celebrities’ measurements, the clients’ needs, the boutiques’ orders, and the new collection releases.
