WHY CELEBRATE HER TODAY WHEN I DO SO EVERY DAY?
I Create around her, I get inspired by her, My world revolves around her. I celebrate her today, and do so every single day.
MY JOURNEY WITH HER
I head to my office and greet her on the way, I sit with her to discuss the fabrics and colors for the upcoming collection, I sketch her, Then jump into another meeting and check the mood-board with her, I go up to the ateliers and look into the production with her, I get a call from her that the client is here, I design for her.
Then comes another day, with another meeting with her, I brainstorm with her for the next shoot, then comes a full-day of fitting with her, ahead of a photoshoot of her behind the lens.
I prepare for market week with her, get on the plane to Paris and meet her. Then another trip to New York to see her in the bridal dress.
Then back home to her.
Then comes Paris again, she walks the Couture runway show, sits in the front row seats or organize it all.
Then I spot her rocking the red carpets, dancing on the stage or walking graciously an award show.
Then comes another day, I get inspired, sketch her, and pin her on my mood-boards.
Her is part of my team, she’s my client, the model walking the runway showcasing my Couture dress or the other model shooting the collection. Her is the bride on her big day, she’s the celebrity on the red carpet, or posing for an editorial magazine; Her is a buyer, a supplier, a friend of the brand.
She’s my mother, my sister, my daughter, my family or even a brief encounter. She’s colored, plus-sized, pear-shaped, skinny, tall, petite, Asian, long hair, blonde, brunette with cropped-bob hair...
She’s my everyday source of inspiration, my muse.
THE WOMEN OF TONY WARD
The Women of today is my constant in this variant world.
I am endlessly inspired, in a way or another, by the modern women.
The edgy yet subtle,
The romantic yet adventurous,
The fierce yet delicate,
The wild yet tender.
Her silhouette is a base to every single stitch that comes out of my ateliers,I sketch her body then get inspired to dress her.I think of my pieces as her second skin.
THERE ARE NO TRENDS WHEN SHE’S AROUND
I am often asked by the media ‘what is the trend for next season’
My answer will always remain the same: I don’t abide by trends, I abide by HER.
I am never fascinated by the trends, I am fascinated by her;
by her taste, by what she likes and what she dislikes.
My designs are not for her, but around her:
around her shape, her soul, and style.
Her timeless figure will always be embodied in my designs,
…and I have learned this none other than my father.
So, why celebrate her today when I do so every single day?
